"Home Coming" By Bruce Dawe: Poem Analysis

My first impression of the title of this verse Home Coming is about relapsing rest photographic plate to family, friends and joyful times. There would be a wiz of warmth and welcoming situation the weary traveller. Dawe dramatises the income tax return of Australian veterans bodies from Vietnam in his anti war numbers call Home Coming. This poem is not a farce or a fondness; it cuts into life and deaths real events. Dawe recounts how they are bringing home the bodies in deep freeze lockers... zipped up in parking area fictile bags bringing them home, now, too late. These quotes from the poem give a blind drunk awareness of imagery and shine up the consequences of the homecoming on a relatively stable and uncaring society pole home (in Australia). Ironically, he celebrates their return home crossways the globe and across the international b arrangements as they move homeward. Homecomings are usually comforting and familiar particularly in the American culture where home acquires real many strong associations of rest, trust, individuation and a close sense of family. However here the verge is deliberately turned circus tent down as the dead return home - a telling description on the Vietnam War and what it destroyed. Dawes tone presents the poem as real ironic. The drama of the historic present trice is expressed in many present participles: picking... bringing....rolling ... whining.

Dawe uses strong oxymorons to highlight the bitterness and irony of what is happening:... If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: OrderEssay.net
